What Is Sound Meditation?

Sound Meditation is a practice of using sound, vibration, rhythm and silence to help the body and mind move toward a state of deep relaxation and awareness.

Our nervous system is constantly responding to the world around us. Sound is one of the ways we influence that system. Gentle, sustained tones and rhythmic sounds can encourage slower breathing, quiet the mind, and support the body in moving away from the heightened state of everyday activity.

This is sometimes described as shifting from the “fight or flight” response toward the rest and restore side of our nervous system.

During a Sound Meditation, you are not being asked to do very much. There is nothing to achieve and no special way you need to meditate. You simply become still, listen, breathe, and allow the sounds to wash over you.

The instruments, including singing bowls, chimes, drums, and other resonant sounds, create layers of vibration that you can hear and, at times, physically feel. And perhaps that is what makes sound so interesting.

We don't only hear sound. We experience it! We don't listen but hear the sounds, and our nervous system does the rest,

Sound Meditation offers a space to pause from the constant stimulation of everyday life and give your nervous system an opportunity to settle.

It is both wonderfully simple and surprisingly profound:

You hear.
You breathe.
You become still.
And you allow the sound to do what it does naturally.

All About Me

My journey to Sound Meditation has been a long and rather beautiful one.

For many years, my world revolved around horses. Through Natural Horsemanship, teaching, and working closely with both horses and people, I learned that connection is about much more than what we do. It is about presence, awareness, energy, intention — and learning to truly listen.

Perhaps more importantly, I bring to this work many years of experience in creating spaces where people can slow down, feel safe, become curious about themselves, and simply be.

Dream Feather is an extension of that journey.

A quiet place to pause.
To breathe.
To listen.
And perhaps, for a little while, to come home to yourself.

I continue to teach Natural Horsemanship today, helping people develop a deeper understanding and connection with their horses. Yet over time, I began to recognize that the same things I had learned through my work with horses were also guiding me inward.

I became increasingly drawn to meditation, stillness, sound and the ways they can help us reconnect with ourselves. Sound Meditation felt like a natural continuation of that journey.

I was certified through The Sound Bath Academy, but I continue to explore the science, practice and experience of sound as a tool for relaxation and reflection.
