A Bit About Me
Embracing the Spirit of Horses: A Journey of Healing and Connection
My name is Michelle Stein, and my medicine name is Little Eagle Woman. I live in Wheatley, Ontario. I am newly retired from 30 years of social work. I have provided support, advocacy, and counselling to people and families in recovery from addiction, trauma, and grief.
Last year, I travelled to North Dakota to experience the spectacular land where over 120 Nokota Horses live under the care and breeding program of the Nokota Horse Conservancy. It is here that I met Tall Badger, a beautiful grey yearling colt who was brought in with a herd to begin learning how to communicate with humans. His messages were very clear: “Listen to me, I have something to say.”
I worked especially hard to move out of my own way and listen. Heaven knows, I often think I know the outcome before it happens! I heard exactly what I needed to hear at that moment. I heard, “ You are needed here to tell our story and to carry a message or two from the other side.” It was a soft and gentle tone, and it took this long and a few other signs for it to settle in.
Recently, I felt compelled to embrace my spiritual call to work with my horses as the spiritual guardians and teachers that they indeed are for people.
When someone seeks healing and connection, I will offer my gift to connect with my horses as the Guardians, and it is with their blessings and connection with Nature’s Spiritual Realms that people will receive messages for their own greater good.
My grandfather visited me in a dream years ago, a vivid vision in my memory. He entered my room, gently waking me, and then handed me the lead line he held. His eyes radiated devotion and love for horses, and I honour this gift of his presence and trust. Every day, I am reminded of this profound moment and the responsibilities it bestowed upon me.
The journey with horses is the true essence of continuous learning and growth. It is a path that requires dedication, openness, and a willingness to embrace the unknown. Through this journey, we discover the beauty and depth of life, gaining insights that enrich our souls.
Horses have long been revered for their strength, grace, and spiritual presence. In many cultures, they symbolize freedom, power, and connection to the divine. They are sacred beings that bridge the gap between the physical and spiritual worlds.
When we gather in a circle, honoring the drum's energy and the horse's presence, we heighten the healing energy for ourselves and each other. Drumming in the presence of horses offers self-reflective moments and invaluable teachings of humility, truth, love, honesty, bravery, respect, and wisdom.
