Advancing Level 1
“Partnership & Patterns”
You have now started to develop a partnership with your horse and have begun to understand their language “The 7 Games” and the importance
of communication on the ground. It is time to progress your skills to a higher level. You will now have the opportunity to discover how to use
imagination and purpose when playing with your horse by combining the games and using obstacles, your body language and expression to
communicate with your horse. The transition to the horse’s back will also be a focus at this level.
What will be covered:
Continue to develop “The 7 Games” Online and the Parelli Patterns into Level 2
Learn to be more creative with your play sessions and using obstacles
Saddling and Mounting: Learn to saddle and mount the ‘Savvy’ way
Pre-ride check: Learn to tell if your horse is ready to ride and what to do if he is not
Three Rein Positions: Learn how the three rein positions set you up for success
Lateral Flexion: Why this is so very important for horses on the ground and when riding
How to ask your horse to go, stop and relax
Emergency Dismount: Learn to dismount your horses quickly, efficiently and safely in
any emergency situation
Pushing Passenger: Learn the benefits of being a passenger for both you and your horse
Follow the Rail: Learn the dynamics of one rein riding at the walk and trot
Note: due to the importance of maintaining the confidence of both student and horse, all teaching points above may not be covered in the time allotted.
Format: This is a two-day course with two 3- hour sessions each day (12 hours of instruction)
Approximately half the time will be spent on ground skills and half with riding skills. Each participant will only move on to riding if both the
horse and rider are ready. Participants will also have unlimited use of Horse Playground after or before clinic.
Prerequisite: All participants should be comfortable walking and trotting their horses in an enclosed area prior to this clinic. You are not
required to have attended an introductory Level 1 Partnership Clinic but a thorough understanding of the basic concepts and skills of “The 7
Games” is expected.
Tools Required: rope halter, 12 foot line, Carrot Stick, Savvy string, saddle, saddle pad
Cost: $410 + GST per participant (limit of 6 students)
a 50% deposit must accompany the registration form. Balance due May 1, 2010
Auditing Tickets: $25 per day or $40 for 2 days
Supplementary Viewing: Study/Review of the “Success Series” (Horsenalities, 7 Games, Safe Ride and Natural Rider) and Level 1-2 Parelli Patterns will help accelerate your learning
